Tea – Basil Street Hotel
Knightsbridge on a Sunny Sunday, with a stroll through the Victoria & Albert Museum or shopping spree at Harrods and, perhaps, theater in the late afternoon, makes tea a very attractive recess; however, the price/quality ratio is less than appealing over at the Basil Street Hotel. It’s also worth noting: if your British Breakfast is big enough, you can do nicely at the Basil with a beer at noon and a late tea to keep costs at a minimum.
Hours: 3:30 to 5:45 pm daily.
Nearest underground: Knightsbridge
Connaught Grill Room
It’s a solid choice for seafood, game and all the usual British dishes taken to their highest form with “lashings of French techniques” that have produced Michelin Stars. Their partridge, steak and oyster pie, and the simple sounding bread and butter pudding, will open eyes to the virtues of classic British food. There are lashings of French dishes as well, but British “puddings” are incredible deserts. “Lunch in the Restaurant and dine at the Grill.” Average price: £65 ($100) and up. Dress up if you can get reservations.
